Atlassian Corporation Plc is an enterprise software company that develops products for software developers, project managers, and content management. It is best known for its issue tracking application, Jira, and its team collaboration and wiki product, Confluence. The company's acquisition of Bitbucket (a web-based version control repository hosting service) in September 2010 has also ensured it has remained popular with developers.

Atlassian was founded by Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar in 2002, and was bootstrapped on AUD 10,000 in credit card debt. Since founding, Atlassian has gone on to be one of a few Australian tech start-ups that have achieve unicorn (revenues equal to or greater than AUD 1.0 billion) in Australia.

Atlassian released its flagship product, Jira in 2002. In 2004, it released Confluence, a team collaboration platform that lets users work together on projects, co-create content, and share documents and other media assets. A lot of the company's popular products and services have come through acquisitions, with Bitbucket (2010), AgileCraft (2019), and Opsgenie (2018) as examples.

Atlassian employs over 3,600 people through six offices located in Sydney (Australia), the San Francisco Bay Area (US), New York City (US), Austin (US), Bengaluru (India), and Ankara (Turkey).

Operating Segments:

Subscription - Subscription revenues consist primarily of fees earned from subscription-based arrangements for providing customers the right to use Atlassian's software using a cloud-based-infrastructure that the company provides. For the financial year ending 30 June 2019, subscription revenues accounted for 52.39% (USD 634.0 million) of total revenue.

Maintenance - Maintenance revenues represent fees earned from providing customers upgrades and enhancements, and technical product support for perpetual license products on an if-and-when-available basis. For the financial year ending 30 June 2019, maintenance revenues accounted for 32.60% (USD 394.5 million) of total revenue.

Perpetual license - Perpetual license revenues represent fees earned from the license of software to customers for use on the customer’s premises (other than the company's data centre products). For the financial year ending 30 June 2019, perpetual license revenues accounted for 7.73% (USD 93.6 million) of total revenue.

Other - Other revenues include fees received for sales of third-party apps in the Atlassian Marketplace, technical account management, and training services. For the financial year ending 30 June 2019, other revenues accounted for 7.28% (USD 88.1 million) of total revenue.
