Description

Facebook is a social networking company that was founded in February 2004 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States, by Harvard alumni Mark Zuckerburg (current CEO), Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes.

Facebook Inc had daily active users (DAUs) of 1.66 billion on average for December 2019, and monthly active users (MAUs) of 2.50 billion as of 31 December  2019. In order to handle this volume of active users, Facebook has 15 data centres globally (Locations: Prineville, Forest City, Luleå, Altoona, Fort Worth, Clonee, Los Lunas, Odense, Papillion, New Albany, Henrico, Newton, Eagle Mountain, Huntsville, Singapore). In the year end 31 December 2019, Facebook employed 44,942 people throughout its operations, and offices in approximately 70 cities across North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.

Facebook has made some strategically significant acquisitions that have enabled it to successfully navigate the complexities of social networking. One of its most notable strategic moves was to acquire Instagram in April 2012 for USD 1 billion. At the time this was seen as overpriced, though Instagram has grown to become one of the most popular social media platforms.

Facebook is listed on the NASDAQ under the code FB.

Operating Segments:

Advertising - Advertising revenue is generated by displaying ad products on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and third-party affiliated websites and mobile applications. Payment is based on the number of impressions delivered or the number of actions, such as clicks, taken by Facebook Inc users (across all platforms). For the year end 31 December 2019, revenue from advertising accounted for 98.53% (USD 69,655 million) of total revenue.

Other services - Other revenue consists of revenue from the delivery of consumer hardware devices and net fees we receive from developers using Facebook Inc's payments infrastructure, as well as revenue from various other sources. For the year end 31 December 2019, revenue from other services accounted for 1.47% (USD 1,042 million) of total revenue.

Mergers and Acquisitions:

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
