Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd (which trades as Foxconn Technology Group, but is generally referred to as Foxconn) is a Taiwan-based electronics contract manufacturing company that is headquartered in Tucheng, New Taipei, Taiwan. The company is one of the largest providers of electronics manufacturing services and information technology in the world. Foxconn was founded by Tai-Ming “Terry” Gou in 1974, and was listed in June 1991.

One of Foxconn's most important milestones occurred in 2001 when Intel selected the company to manufacture its Intel-branded motherboards instead of Asus. Since then, the company has gone on to gain major contracts with notable companies including (but not limited to): Apple Computers, Inc (sales contract started 7 December 1999); International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) (sales contract started 7 July 2008); Microsoft Corporation (sales contract started 27 October 2009 - "onwards for 5 years, contract renewal for 1 year will be initiated by Microsoft 120 days before expiry"); Sony Corporation (sales contract started 26 January 2010).

Foxconn’s first manufacturing facility in China opened in Longhua Tou, Shenzhen, in 1988. The majority of Foxconn's factories are located in Asia, though the company does have facilities in Brazil, Europe, India, and Mexico, and other facilities that pick-and-pack parts for faster delivery to customers in countries such as Australia.

Foxconn is traded on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) under the code 2317. A number of the company's subsidiaries are also traded on various stock exchanges under their own symbols/codes. For instance, FIH Mobile Ltd is traded on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HSE) under the code 2038, Foxconn Interconnect Technology Limited is traded on the HSE under the code 6088, and Foxconn Industrial Internet Co Ltd is traded on the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SHA) under the code 601138.

Brands and marketing channels - Companies under Foxconn's brands and marketing channels segment include: Sharp, APTG, Nokia, FLnet.tw, YongLin Farm, HONG SENG, Belkin, Linksys, Wemo, Phyn.

Technology integration services:

Foxconn Industrial Internet Co Limited (FII) - FII operates as a communication network equipment development company, that develops and sells network switches, routers, wireless devices, web servers, set top boxes, smart home gateways, and other products. FII also manufactures storage equipment. FII generated revenue of 414,922 million yuan in 2018 (financial year ends 31 December) and had more than 23,000 R&D staff.

Foxconn Interconnect Technology Limited (FIT) - FIT incorporated in the Cayman Islands with limited liability under the name Foxconn Interconnect Technology Limited and carrying on business in Hong Kong as FIT Hon Teng Limited, is principally involved in the manufacture, sales and service of connector, case, thermal module, wired/wireless communication products, power supply modules. Foxconn Interconnect Technology generated US$4,005.6 million in revenue and employed 40,500 people as of December 31, 2018 (compared to 47,700 employees as of December 31, 2017).

FIH Mobile Limited (FIH) - FIH Mobile Limited is primarily engaged in the provision of vertically integrated manufacturing services for handsets. The company operates its business through three segments based on the location of customers: Asia, Europe and America. The company’s subsidiaries include Chiun Mai Communication Systems, Inc. and FIH (Hong Kong) Limited. Through its subsidiaries, FIH is also engaged in the design and manufacture of handsets. FIH generated US$14,929.9 million in revenue in the financial year ending 31 December 2018 (US$12,080.1 in 2017) and employed 97,484 as at 31 December 2018 (compared to 92,779 as at 31 December 2017).
