Description

Royal Dutch Shell PLC (Shell), is an oil and gas company headquartered in the Netherlands and incorporated in the United Kingdom.

The company operates a vertically integrated structure, which means it operates in every area of the oil and gas industry - this includes exploration and production, refining, transport, distribution and marketing, petrochemicals, power generation and trading. Royal Dutch Shell has also expanded into renewable energies in recent years, with a number of acquisitions including Eolfi SAS (France, November 2019); Sonnen GmbH (Germany, February 2019); and The NewMotion BV (Netherlands, October 2017). The company's renewable energy activities, include biofuels, wind, energy-kite systems, solar farms, and hydrogen.

In 2005, Royal Dutch Shell became the single parent company of Royal Dutch Petroleum Company and the Shell Transport and Trading Company. The transaction occurred by way of an exchange offer by Royal Dutch Shell for the Royal Dutch shares and by way of a scheme of arrangement for Shell Transport. The terms of the transaction reflected the 60:40 ownership of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group by Royal Dutch and Shell Transport.

Royal Dutch Shell PLC is listed on multiple stock exchanges, which include: London Stock Exchange (LSE) under the codes RDSA and RDSB; Euronext Amsterdam under the code RDSA; and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the codes RDS.A and RDS.B.

Operating Segments:

Downstream - The downstream segment is engaged in oil products and chemicals manufacturing, marketing and trading activities, that turn crude oil and other feedstocks into a range of products which are moved and marketed around the world for domestic, industrial and transport use. For the the financial year end 31 December 2019, the downstream segment accounted for 85.12% (USD 293,545 million) of total revenue.

Integrated gas - The integrated gas segment covers liquefied natural gas (LNG) activities and the conversion of natural gas into gas-to-liquids fuels and other products. It includes natural gas exploration and extraction and the operation of the upstream and midstream infrastructure necessary to deliver gas to market. It markets and trades natural gas, LNG, electricity and carbon-emission rights and also markets and sells LNG as a fuel for heavy-duty vehicles and marine vessels. This segment also covers Royal Dutch Shell's New Energies portfolio. For the the financial year end 31 December 2019, the integrated gas segment accounted for 11.98% (USD 41,322 million) of total revenue.

Upstream - The upstream segment is a combination of two operating segments: 1) upstream, which is engaged in the exploration for and extraction of crude oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids, and the marketing and transportation of oil and gas, and 2) oil sands, which is engaged in the extraction of bitumen from mined oil sands and conversion into synthetic crude oil. Royal Dutch Shell considers these operating segments to have similar economic characteristics because their earnings are significantly dependent on crude oil and natural gas prices and production volumes, and hence they are placed into one segment, upstream. For the the financial year end 31 December 2019, the upstream segment accounted for 2.89% (USD 9,965 million) of total revenue.

Corporate - The corporate segment covers the non-operating activities supporting Royal Dutch Shell, comprising the company's holdings and treasury organisation, its self-insurance activities and its headquarters and central functions. For the the financial year end 31 December 2019, the corporate segment accounted for 0.01% (USD 45 million) of total revenue.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
