Walmart Inc (Walmart) is a United States-based multinational retail corporation that operates a chain of hypermarkets, discount department stores, and grocery stores, headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas.

The company was founded by Sam Walton on 2 July 1962 and incorporated on 31 October 1969. It also owns and operates Sam's Club retail warehouses. As at 31 October 2019, Walmart had 11,438 stores and clubs in 27 countries, operating under 55 different names.

Walmart Inc is engaged in the operation of retail, wholesale and other units, as well as ecommerce websites, located throughout the U.S., Africa, Argentina, Canada, Central America, Chile, China, India, Japan, Mexico and the United Kingdom, as well as Brazil prior to the sale of the majority stake of Walmart Brazil in June 2018.

The company operates under the name Walmart in the United States and Canada, as Walmart de México y Centroamérica in Mexico and Central America, as Asda in the United Kingdom, as the Seiyu Group in Japan, and as Best Price in India. It has wholly owned operations in Argentina, Chile, Canada, and South Africa.

Walmart Inc is traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the code WMT.

Operating Segments:

Walmart United States - The Walmart U.S. segment includes the company's mass merchant concept in the U.S., as well as eCommerce and omnichannel initiatives. For the year end 31 January 2019, Walmart U.S. accounted for 64.99% (USD 331,666 million) of total revenue.

Walmart International - The Walmart International segment consists of the Company's operations outside of the U.S., as well as eCommerce and omni-channel initiatives. For the year end 31 January 2019, Walmart International accounted for 23.68% (USD 120,824 million) of total revenue.

Sam's Club - The Sam's Club segment includes the warehouse membership clubs in the U.S., as well as samsclub.com and omni-channel initiatives. For the year end 31 January 2019, Sam's Club accounted for 11.33% (USD 57,839 million) of total revenue.
