Aramco Overseas Company BV was established on 18 December 1989, and is based in Leiden, the Netherlands. However, the company's history extends further back in time. Aramco Overseas Company was originally established as the Aramco Purchasing Company in 1948 under the laws of the state of Delaware. At the time, the company's headquarters were located in Rome, Italy with the primary function of providing procurement and technical services to Saudi Aramco’s operations in the Kingdom (Saudi Arabia). The company was later transformed into a limited liability company (BV) under Dutch Laws in 1989.
